this site is a series of textfiles formatted using a subset of markdown.

why:

• no writing in html or manually copying template files
• other site generators try to do too much
• smart minimalism without over-engineering

a simple script builds the site by converting everything to html and assembling individual log entries into a combined stream (and rss at the same time). a very simplistic "template" system is used by having a start and end file, which gets added to each entry. anything not in the /log/ folder gets treated like a static file.

tools:

• cmark converts md to html
• bash for the script
• git manages history and publishing
• convert (imagemagick) resize/rotate photos
